Over The Counter COVID-19 Test Kits To Be Covered
As of January 15, the government requires commercial group and individual healthcare plans to cover or reimburse costs for over the counter (OTC) at-home rapid COVID-19 tests.
Individuals can submit a receipt for reimbursement to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona after purchasing an at-home COVID-19 test. To qualify for reimbursement, tests must be FDA approved or have received emergency use authorization (EUA) from the FDA. This will be effective for purchases made on January 15, 2022, and after.
Additionally, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona is evaluating potential point of sale options if they administer the plan’s pharmacy benefit.
